Would You See This in Canada?

Today, thinking I could be home early, I was slowed down seriously due to some big 'thing' on the highway.  I was kind of ready for this event when I was going to work. I saw at least two lanes of traffic snarled and basically stopped for several kms. in the direction of my home, but really hoped it would be over by the time I was using that route. Wrongo!

Imagine some people doing roadwork on the highway and having only a couple of traffic cones to protect them.  This picture is taken on a highway.  Massive trucks are flying by these guys at highway speed leaving about a few inches between the truck and the worker.  Click on the photo and you can get a close up of the workers and truck going by.

Things got worse. The rain began, the rain turned into a downpour, and what is a legal 2 lane highway became a 5 lane highway of morons trying to be first in line. First was not an option today. The little drive of 15 km I was on took me 2 hours.  Bumper to bumper - not kidding and side by side, we inched our way to some event on the road. Not sure what the heck it was, just a big thing in the middle of the road that meant we must take turns -- right, take turns in Malaysia!  And drive into the mucky ditch swollen with rain water and get around it.  Holy crow.  What a waste of time.  So, to entertain myself, I took a few pictures of what I endured.

You can see the side mirror on the clown to my left - big truck.  I could only capture 3 lanes of this newly appointed 5 lane road.

You can see in the sky that we are doomed for rain
And then it rained. But didn't matter - as far as you can see - 5 lanes of cars ahead
