The Latest Trilogy

When one lives in a country that is not home, one tends to use books as a resource to keep in a reality state of mind. At least this person does.  I see my limited television and witness everyone chattering about the new trilogy of books that is on everyone's reading list. Perhaps I should not mention it here, but I felt I needed to see what the chatter was about.  Especially when I read online that these books have actually been banned in some libraries.  That of course piqued my interest.  And to further grab my attention, I read also that the books were likely doomed in Malaysia for the same reasons that the North American libraries had banned them.  Now I really wanted the books. So, after a weekend of cleaning and ironing, I treated myself to a lengthy massage in JB, prefaced by a trip to the big bookstore in the next-door mall.  I cannot check that bookstore online for their inventory. No one here uses websites - Facebook is their only page.  Even politicians here have Facebook for contact!  Anyway, I took myself to the bookstore and discovered that the new trilogy 50 Shades of Grey + the other two were sitting in a wrapper on a shelf touting themselves as new best sellers in North America. I grabbed a set and quickly paid for them.  Who knows when Malaysia will decide this set of books needs to be pulled from the shelves? Who knows why I want them?

I guess I am not supposed to admit to buying these books. They are serious twisted thinking apparently, and all television personalities who talk about it admit to reading them, because they don't want to appear to be out of the loop regarding knowing what is new and chi chi to read.  However, they never admit to buying a set - they claim to read the book over other people's shoulder.  I wonder how much truth is in that.  As they are considered a best seller, then who the heck is buying them?  Well, I bought the books, and can settle down to see what the hype is all about.
